T Natarajan has been included in the Test squad for the remaining two matches of the four-Test Border Gavaskar Series released between India and Australia. However, this has been confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Natarajan has got a place in the team in place of injured Umesh Yadav. Umesh Yadav was injured during the second Test match and has returned home.

Umesh Yadav had a hamstring injury while bowling in Australia’s second innings in the second Test match of the series played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, after which he returned from the field after bowling just 3.3 overs. Umesh could not take the field after this in the second Test. Umesh is the second Indian fast bowler to be out due to injury on this tour. Mohammed Shami was ruled out of the tour after being injured in the first match, while Umesh was dismissed from the series after the second Test.
Apart from this, Rohit Sharma has been declared as vice-captain in place of Cheteshwar Pujara in both the remaining Test matches. Rohit has joined the team for the last two Tests and is also preparing for the third match of the series to be played at Sydney Cricket Ground. The third Test match is to be played from January 7. The series is currently 1–1 on par. The first Test match was played in Adelaide, which was won by Australia by 8 wickets and the second test match was played in Melbourne, which India won by 8 wickets.
