Mumbai : Sensex surged by over 200 points to new highs in early trade on Wednesday due to gains in shares of ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries. Market sentiment was also boosted by the steady flow of foreign funds. BSE’s 30-share Sensex gained 201.65 points to 49,718.76 points. Earlier it also touched its all-time high of 49,776.29. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty gained 70.55 points to 14,634 points in early trade. Among the Sensex companies, Bharti Airtel shares rose the most by nearly four percent. ONGC, SBI, ICICI Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, L&T and Axis Bank were also profitable. On the other hand, shares of Titan, Kotak Bank, Dr. Reddy’s, TCS and HCL Tech were trading at a loss.
