This beautiful palace is built on the banks of the sea in Clifton, which was also home to Shivaratan. The responsibility to build this palace was on Ahmed Hussain Agha, the first Muslim architect of India and he was specially called to Karachi from Jaipur.

It is said that Mohta’s wife was struggling with a serious illness. Doctors had advised Mohatta that if his wife gets fresh sea breeze then she can recover again.

Therefore, to see his ailing wife healthy, Shivratan got this palace ready in a large area of ​​Clifton. The walls of the palace were painted very beautifully, even today its windows win the hearts of tourists.

As soon as you enter inside, anyone starts having royal feeling like kings. The second floor of the palace is also very attractive. Its rooms are so large that it is difficult to believe that the same person living in the palace was using them. It is difficult to forget the view of the sea spread in Karachi from the roof of the palace.

Guards see ghosts

Apart from the beauty that wins the heart of the palace, there are some such things in Mohatta which are a mystery to people. At the time when the palace was being renovated, the laborers used to work till late in the night.

The workers realized such incidents that no one believed them. Some workers said that they often see the lights in the palace moving while no one is present inside the palace.

While the guards posted here are believed to have guarded the ghosts from the British Raj in the Mohatta Palace. Guards say that they often see someone moving inside the palace. In the morning, there have also been talk of changing the things of the palace.

A mystery tunnel inside the palace

There is such a thing in this palace that very few people knew about it. There is a secret underground tunnel in this palace and it is said that this tunnel is haunted. It runs from the Tunnel Palace to a Hindu temple which is less than a kilometer away.

It is said that this tunnel was built to reach the temple safely to the wife of Mohatta, who was a Hindu. They were able to recite pooja daily and they did not have any problem, that is why it was constructed.

Even today it is a tunnel but now it has been closed from both sides. The first woman Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, built a museum in this palace and in 1995 it was bought by the Mohatta Palace Museum Trust.
