The condition of corona infection in the country is becoming serious. New cases are increasing constantly. On Thursday, 1,071 new cases of corono were reported in Punjab, the highest since November 2020. The number of daily cases in Punjab has increased by 671, while the number of daily deaths has increased by 15. The figures of daily increase in active cases and the highest number of deaths occur in the country after Maharashtra.

The five districts in Punjab that have seen the highest number of daily cases include Jalandhar (242), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (147), Hoshiarpur (115), S.A.S. Nagar (111), and Ludhiana (106). The graph below shows the increasing trend of Kovid-19 cases in these five districts in the last one month.

Punjab, Karnataka and Kerala are the only three states where the number of new Kovid-19 cases is more than 1,000. In Punjab and Maharashtra, the infection has increased rapidly, while in Kerala it has increased marginally. In Maharashtra and Kerala, the new cases were much higher by the third week of February.

Compared to other affected states, in Punjab, the pace of vaccination is also very slow in Punjab. Till Friday, only half of the 4.29 lakh beneficiaries registered for Kovid-19 vaccination were vaccinated in Punjab. Corona is increasing havoc in the country
