New Delhi : Former captain of the Indian cricket team and veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar is celebrating his 50th anniversary of his debut in international Test cricket. Gavaskar made his Test debut against the West Indies on 6 March 1971 at the Port of Spain. Many Indian cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, have congratulated Gavaskar on the occasion.
Sachin Tendulkar, considered the God of cricket, tweeted, “My idol.”
Former Indian team batsman Suresh Raina tweeted, “Have a great journey for 50 years. Thank you wholeheartedly for motivating players like us! Whatever you did for our country. We are very proud of that. “
Former Indian fast bowler Rudra Pratap Singh tweeted for Sunil Gavaskar and said, “It was indeed a great privilege for me to comment with you. The best thing about Sunil Bhai is that he has been learning till his test debut. ”
Significantly, Gavaskar has played 125 Test matches for India in his international cricket career, in which he has scored 10122 runs, while he has scored 3092 runs in 108 ODIs for the country.
