Chitrakoot: On the holy festival of Makar Sankranti in Chitrakoot, a historic pilgrimage site in Uttar Pradesh, lakhs of devotees took a holy dip in faith in Matygendranath Nath (ancient Shiva temple) by taking a dip of faith in the fallen holy mother Mandakini river. After this, to fulfill the wishes, a Panchkosiya Parikrama of Kamadgiri mountain was done. Along with offering arghya to Surya Narayana, he donated khichdi.
Makar Sankranti festival has special significance in the famous city of Chitrakoot, known all over the world as Adithirtha. According to mythological beliefs, by bathing in the Mandakini river on the festival of Makar Sankranti, donating khichdi orbiting kamadgiri and offering arghya to Surya Narayana from the waters of the Mandakini river gives you the desired fruit.
Vipin Maharaj, a priest of the Matygendranath Nath temple, said that on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, there was a gathering of lakhs of devotees in Dharm Nagri since morning. By dawn, after taking a dip of faith in Mandakini, he offered arghya to Surya Narayana and donated khichdi and vasta. Apart from this, Jalabhishek was done by the first Shivalinga Swami Matygendranath of the world, established by the foster Lord Brahma of Chitrakoot. After this, Panchkosiya circumambulation of Kamadgiri mountain was done to wish for the fulfillment of the wishes.
Devotees Om Kesharwani, Dilip Kesharwani, Sunil Dwivedi, who came to take a dip of faith in fallen Pavani Maa Mandakini, say that Chitrakoot is the holy land of Lord Shri Ram. Bathing Mandakini and applying circumambulation of Kamadgiri fulfills all desires.
Apart from this, DM Seshamani Pandey says that adequate security arrangements have been made in the fair area regarding Makar Sakranti. Divers have been deployed to avoid any accident while bathing in Mandakini. Sector magistrates have been deployed throughout the fair.
Let me tell you that the mercury in Makar Sankranti is below five degrees in the holy land of Lord Shri Ram in Chitrakoot, but became enthusiastic in the devotees. In the mythological Bharatakupa and fallen Pavani Maa Mandakini, people are attracted to bath and charity. Bhajan kirtans and mantras are being heard all around. Most people reached Chitrakoot by private vehicles as the passenger train stopped. The administration has made arrangements for bonfire and night shelter for the people to avoid the cold. Also, magistrates are posted to supervise the arrangements.
