Jammu : The movement of vehicles on the highway has been stopped once again due to landslides on Wednesday morning in Shawanabas area of Banihal, located on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. At the same time, the employees of PWDA National Highway Authority of India are busy in removing the debris along with the machines. It is believed that by noon the highway will be opened for vehicular traffic. At the same time, due to landslide, an oil tanker has got buried in the debris. Traffic police say the tanker driver is safe.
A sudden landslide occurred in the Shabanbas area of Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar highway in the early hours today. When the debris was falling down the mountain, an oil tanker was passing through there. Seeing the tanker sinking into the mud, the driver left the vehicle and left safely there. Traffic workers became active as soon as the landslide was reported. He immediately stopped the movement of vehicles on the highway. Meanwhile, PWD and NHAI personnel rushed to the spot along with the machinery and started the work of removing the debris. On the opening of the highway, the vehicles trapped in the jam will be taken out first. Only then will other vehicles be allowed to hit the streets.
