Krefeld: Indian men’s hockey team played 1–1 draw with Germany in their second match of Europe tour. Jarmanpreet Singh of India and Martin Hanner scored for Germany.
After registering a 6–1 win in their first international match of the tour, the Indian team started aggressively in the second match as well.
In the fourth minute, the Indian team got a penalty corner, which was converted by defender Jermanpreet Singh to give the Indian team a 1-0 lead. Within the next two minutes, the hosts also bounced back and had a chance to score an equalizer through a penalty, but could not capitalize.
The German team then retaliated and one minute before half time, the experienced Martin Hanner converted a penalty goal to give Germany a 1–1 score and the score proved to be decisive in the end.
After the match, Indian team head coach Graham Reid said, “This match was a good experience for our players. It was a tough match and the team worked hard. Both teams created opportunities and I am sure we will learn a lot from this match. ”
The Indian team will play their next match on Europe tour to Great Britain on Saturday 6 March.
