While disposing of the petition filed for Panchayati elections in Dharampur block of Mandi district, the State High Court ordered the government to prepare the necessary formalities related to the elections within 3 weeks. These formalities are to be notified 3 months before the elections as per the court order.
These formalities include reorganization, bifurcation, separation or reorganization of panchayats to create a fresh reservation roster based on the changed population. There may also be objections to the reservation roster prepared in this way.
Therefore, the court ordered in the case related to the elections of Tutu and Chaupal development blocks that the notification regarding roster and voter list should be notified 3 months before the elections so that the courts can settle the objections on time.
A division bench of Judge Sureshwar Thakur and Judge Sandeep Sharma ordered to complete the formalities related to the elections in Dharampur block within 3 weeks. Applicant Pawan Kumar had alleged that the government allegedly rigged the reservation roster this time. In this case, objections were made to reserve the Kothua Panchayat of Dharampur assembly constituency for the fifth time in a row.
