The Congress party is fully ready to convene a meeting of senior leaders to discuss major changes in the organization. This meeting will be carried forward on the decisions taken in the meeting held in December. In fact, some senior leaders of the Congress party wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi about the changes in the party.
Media reports quoted party sources as saying that a senior leader representing the group of leaders who wrote the letter also discussed the suggestions raised in the meeting held on 19 December. It is known that the marathon meeting that lasted for five hours was chaired by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi was also present in the meeting.
According to reports, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal and senior leader Ambika Soni, who are members of the committee that suggested the Congress chief, met Ghulam Nabi Azad and discussed a number of issues. It is known that Ghulam Nabi Azad was also a part of the group who wrote a letter about the change in the party.
However, a decision is yet to be taken on when the next meeting of the party will be held. Sources say that in the next meeting of the party, there will be a discussion about elections in the organization, which means that there can be an AICC session for the election of the new president of the party.
