Kolkata : After the death of a bike rider due to a collision with a police vehicle late on Monday, tension has spread in the Asansol South police station area this morning. On Tuesday morning, after receiving information about the incident, angry people demonstrated fiercely at Corporation Turn near Asansol Daksh Thana and blocked the GT Road.
It was told that at around 11:30 pm on Monday, two youths were going somewhere with a bike when a vehicle hit their bike. One youth was seriously injured in the accident while the other died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Vikas Ghosh (27), a resident of Nooruddin Road. The injured youth is named Pankaj Tiwari. It is alleged that the vehicle to hit his bike is from the police. After the accident, the driver ran away with a police vehicle. The vehicle involved in the incident is hidden behind the police station. On Tuesday, when the accident was reported, all the people created a ruckus.
Some people have also vandalized a suspicious white Tata Sumo car parked behind the police station. During this time, there was a scuffle and brawl between the protesters and the police and the police vehicles were vandalized. Angry people blocked the GT road. After this, the police force somehow managed to control the circumstances. The police have denied all the allegations. He claimed that none of the vehicles of this police station were involved in the accident.
Witnesses claim that the bike was coming at a high speed from the opposite side on the road. Then the bike collided strongly with the police car. It is alleged that the police left the place after the incident. The entire case is being investigated.
