Telecom chief Bharti Airtel said that it has not charged any separate fee for interconnect usage charges (IUC) from customers. Airtel also said that its unlimited free call benefits will continue. Bharti Airtel Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ajay Puri said in a statement that Airtel mobile customers are already enjoying unlimited free calls on all networks with Airtel’s prepaid bundles and postpaid plans.
He said, “At Airtel, we are passionate about providing the best-in-class experience to our customers.” Airtel mobile customers are already enjoying unlimited free calls on all networks with our prepaid bundles and postpaid plans.
No separate charge for IUC
Puri said, “In fact, Airtel has not charged a separate fee for IUC from its customers and the benefit of unlimited calling will continue for our customers.” On the other hand, Reliance Jio announced on Friday that all domestic calls will be free from January 1, because the IUC has been abolished for all domestic voice calls.
Matter deferred for a year
The Zero IUC system was earlier to be implemented from January 2021, but its implementation was deferred until January 1, 2022. Note that IUC is an inter-operator charge. IUC is basically a settlement between two service providers. This happens when a user calls from one network to another.
