Washington: A judge in Texas of the US on Saturday dismissed a case on behalf of Republican Louis Gohmart, seeking to prevent Vice President Mike Pence from certifying the end result of the recently concluded presidential election.
The BBC reported that one of the efforts of President Donald Trump’s allies to cancel the November US election result has been rejected by the courts. Mr. Pence’s lawyer on Thursday sought to have the case dismissed.
Nominated President Joe Biden is scheduled to take office on January 20, although Mr. Trump has not given up yet.
Mr. Gohart of the Republican Congress told mediamen that he was planning to challenge the verdict.
Mr. Trump’s friends and colleagues in the Republican Party have presented several legal challenges to the November results. Mr Biden’s victory was announced several days after the counting of votes as a large number of postal ballots were cast due to the Corona virus epidemic.
Mr. Trump has made several claims that Mr. Biden rigged the election to win a decisive victory, although he has not offered any evidence in this regard.
